Hometown, Alice Skye

Saturday 10 December, 1PM – 6PM

Sawyer Park Sound Shell, Horsham

Alice Skye will join the Always Live line-up as the headline act of the Victorian flagship music festival’s second Hometown concert – a new regional First Nations concert series.  The award-winning Wergaia/Wemba Wemba singer-songwriter is an artist whose reputation for bringing forth emotional exposure and introspective storytelling is unparalleled. She returns to Horsham to perform as part of Hometown, a concert series that sees celebrated First Peoples performers journey back to their hometowns for special one-off shows alongside rising local talent.

Alice says; “Returning home to play at this venue is going to be beautiful, it is wild to think that I saw Spiderbait play there when I was a kid, and as a teen I ran across that stage with my friends, pretending to perform! Now I am coming home with my band and it will be so special, especially being alongside Barengi Gadjin Wimmera River.”

This is a free event.

Darren Hanlon Live in Watchem

Friday 2 December, 7PM

The Church, Watchem

Join acclaimed singer-songwriter Darren Hanlon as he brings this year to a close with an intimate solo show at magical venue, The Church in Watchem.

In March this year Hanlon released his sixth studio album, Life Tax. It proved to be his most pared down effort to date, full of lyrically dense narrative tales and emotional love songs. For those less acquainted, Hanlon has toured with the likes of the Lucksmiths, the Dearhunters and Weddings, Parties, Anything leader Mick Thomas.

“Even in a long-form setting, Hanlon remains a master of emotional shorthand.” – The Australian
