Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre

The Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre commemorates Nhill’s proud century of aviation. Located at the aerodrome just north of the township, it is a ‘must-see’ for aviation enthusiasts and for those wanting to learn more about Australia’s wartime history.

The Heritage Centre boasts an Avro Anson, a Wirraway and a Link Trainer flight simulator, all meticulously restored by volunteers. Also on display is a privately owned Tiger Moth, and a 1930’s de Soutter.

Photos, memorabilia and a Heritage Walk capture life when more than 10,000 RAAF trainees passed through Nhill’s RAAF Base during WW2. Stories of visits from famous aviators and footage of recent Nhill airshows all add to the experience.

Group tours can be arranged, and free RV camping is available on site.

Nhill is located midway between Melbourne and Adelaide, with easy access to the Little Desert to the south and the Big Desert to the North. Nhill is an ideal weekend stopover but also a great destination with plenty of attractions for holidaymakers. All it takes is the inclination to explore.
