The Stick Shed

Amazing is the word most often used by visitors to describe The Stick Shed in the Wimmera town of Murtoa. Built during World War 2 to store wheat. The Cathedral of the Wimmera is a unique, must see, truly Australian icon.

265 metres long, 60 metres wide and 20 metres high it was completed in just five months. Designed to last a decade, it has survived eight decades and counting.

The Stick Shed was listed by Heritage Victoria in 1990 and placed on the Australian Heritage List at Number 101 out of just 126 in 2014.
