John Shaw Neilson Cottage

This cottage was originally built near Penola in South Australia. It was the birthplace of Australian poet John Shaw Neilson (1872-1942). The cottage was re-erected in Nhill in recognition of the Neilson family relocating to Minimay, just west of the town in 1889. John Shaw Neilson became known as one of Australia’s finest lyric poets focusing on themes of the natural world and the beauty in it.
