Stitching the Sacred – Seeds of Becoming

16 Apr 2026

Stitching the Sacred is an annual mindful crafting and creativity retreat, aimed at fostering connections, deepening into a sense of place, developing creativity and connective ways of thinking and being, and strengthening the body wisdom through working with the hands.

This April, join Kay Hustwaite and Shalome Lateef for Seeds of Becoming and create a strand of seed beads (a mala), and/or a companion cloth (a cloth of becoming) as you explore life transitions, new pathways or projects, and the promise of what might be.

Craft a companion cloth as a stand alone piece of personal transformation. Incorporate eco-printing practices and slow-stitching into your cloth design. Get guidance in making your companion cloth into a vessel to hold your beads. Learn how to craft beads from structurally beautiful seeds using simple tools. String your beads as a mala, or in a number pattern that is personally significant. Be guided through an intuitive process for catching a mantra, sound or word to accompany your beads. Learn about the value and significance of seed sounds, the sacredness of words, and the beauty of prayers for recitation and amplification of joy, abundance and peace. Spend time listening to and with the land, weaving songs, stories and connection into your work. Alternatively bring your own project to work on.
