Birchip, Victoria
Birchip is located on the southern edge of the Mallee in north-western Victoria, approximately 320 km from Melbourne. Situated in in the Shire of Buloke, Birchip has a town population of 822 and an area population of 1200.
Other townships within the Buloke Shire are Charlton, Donald, Sea Lake, Wycheproof, Watchem, Berriwillock, Culgoa, Nandaly and Nullawil and they all have a range of exciting events and tourist attractions, making the area well worth a visit.
Birchip is the perfect place to stop for lunch on your way through to larger regional cities such as Mildura, Horsham, Bendigo, Ballarat or Swan Hill. We have a family-friendly park right in the centre of town opposite the lunch spots. The park is fenced and children love playing on the green lawn. Best of all, in the warmer months, the local swimming pool is right next door!
Birchip enjoys hot, dry summers, beautiful autumns, mild winters, glorious springs and amazing Mallee sunsets. Birchip is a great central location to visit the Silo Art Trail, Tyrell Lake Night Skies, The Grampians, the Murray River and Tchum Lake.
To travel to Birchip from Melbourne there are two preferred routes, one through Ballarat via the Sunraysia Highway and one through Bendigo via the Calder Highway.
