Travis Price’s Mural
Street artist Travis Price grew up in Dimboola and returned to create a fantastic mural near the town library reflecting the the history of the township and local area. Travis explains his inspiration for the artwork: “Growing up in Dimboola the Wimmera River was an epicentre for activity and adventure. From swimming and fishing through to skiing and rowing. The river has always been a huge advantage over other towns within the region and was an important attraction/food source prior to white settlement. I wanted the mural to convey a sense of freedom I felt around the river as a teenager with the focal point of the mural depicting a young woman submerged under the rivers surface guided by it’s current which then flows into a wreath of wheat and wattle. The design uses heritage style signage as reference to the heritage overlay of it’s location and acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Wotjobaluk people along with references to the towns previous and original names.”
