Nati Frinj Biennale 2022

28 Oct 2022

Various locations,
Natimuk
VIC 3409

There is no doubt that silo art is fashionable, but if you come to the Natimuk Frinj Festival this year you will find a group of artists who have been using the towns silo as the inspiration for art for 20 years.

The Frinj, as it is known takes over the town every two years, and though Covid caused a reschedule, this year’s festival will be no exception. Every little nook and cranny in the small village will be the site for creative explorations, for the town’s artists to play.

This year’s feature event will be Bamboo Exquisite, three installations reaching for the sky, and a venue for high-line walkers, silk performances and much more. One of Melbourne’s premier puppetry companies Black Hole Theatre will be working with local First Nation artists, Dave Jones of Transience, to create a 360-degree immersive performance for children.

The successful recipients of ACT Natimuk’s first Creative Lab will showcase their creations, including courthouse projections, a robotic squeeze box, and a secret series of heartfelt conversations. There will be painted Frij’s adorning the street.

Plus the usual assortment of quirky pop-up bars, teenage DJ workshops, circus, music to listen to or dance to, innovative theatre shows, and striking visual art.
